Top 4 Wedding Invitation Trends for 2018

In honour of our brand new concession Designed by Brownings, a specialist in contemporary handmade stationary we are sharing our top wedding invitation trends for 2018.

One of the first decisions you will make in your wedding planning process is deciding on the theme and your wedding invitations will give guests a glimpse into that theme. To help you along the way, here are 4 of our favourite 2018 invitation trends we believe will make your big day stand out! If you’re planning on getting married next year, be sure that your wedding is bound to be gorgeous with these trends.

Wedding invitations are at the start of every wedding — your first impression, so why not make a statement with a bold, eye-catching opening? Envelope liners have become an on going trend creating the perfect finishing touch, allowing you to truly be creative with fun design elements, such as citrus tropical sceneries, glitter, or a personal detail to perfectly represent the bride and groom’s personality.

The idea of a destination wedding has grown in popularity in recent years, which has resulted in a massive boost in tropical wedding stationery. We do love this bright colourful wedding trend and works great if you want to add a splash of colour to a travel-inspired wedding theme. This trend is perfect for couples looking for that refreshing unique look to their wedding, creating a tranquil and exotic vibe for guests when receiving the exciting news.

Looking for something less traditional? An uprising trend of graphic and geometric visuals have been largely emphasized into a more contemporary wedding theme. This style is perfect for a pattern-loving couple, with a bold and edgy personality. This theme has been widely inspired by the art deco look with a minimal twist on shapes, lines and colours. If this is right up your street, think about travelling back to the Jazz Age with a collection of glamorous wedding stationery inspired by The Great Gatsby.

Metallics have been a must for the year of 2017 and we believe will carry on way into 2018. Glam up your wedding with foiled invitations, ranging from gold, silver, copper and even rose gold. Yes ladies, rose gold is everywhere, iPhone’s, nails and now weddings! Be adventurous and daring with this hard to beat glitzy trend. Mix it up, tone it down, whatever you choose foiling suits a variety of themes whether it is vintage, contemporary, eleghant or pretty.

8 Wedding Day Beauty Tips Every Bride Needs to Know

Wedding Day Makeup Tips

Your wedding day will undoubtedly be one of the biggest and most memorable days of your life, and as you walk down the aisle — with all eyes on you, of course — you’ll want to be absolutely flawless.

But achieving that runway-inspired bridal look takes some preparation and planning. To ensure your wedding day is picture perfect, and to help you achieve a gorgeous big-day look, we have put together our top wedding day makeup tips.

‘Go for an enhanced version of yourself’

“As a bride, you have to remember that photos last forever, your look should be timeless and you should really just try to look like a more enhanced, fresh, beautiful version of yourself. So if you don’t normally wear a dark smokey eye, your wedding isn’t the place to try it out! You don’t want your soon-to be-husband or partner to not recognise you! Stick to a natural, romantic colour palette on the eyes, and don’t forget waterproof mascara, because most brides shed a few tears. Also, on your wedding day you want your lips to look kissable, so stay away from really strong colours (like bright pink) or too much gloss.”

Always vice your opinion

Always book a trial with your makeup artist, and don’t hesitate to bring images of your dream makeup and vision. Voice your feedback at the trial. If you don’t like a lip colour, tell your makeup artist. You should be confident and look beautiful on your wedding day. If you’ve booked an artist who doesn’t want to hear what you have to say, run out the door! A seasoned pro is all ears and wants you to feel happy.

A little bit of powder goes a long way

“Brides: Don’t forget that the T-zone area tends to get shiny, so a little bit of powder makes a huge difference, light powder touch-ups between photos and during the reception are key to staying shine free. Don’t go complexion crazy (take it easy on the foundation and contouring). Yes, you need a full complexion for photos, but the coverage should be focused on the areas that need it, not where you don’t.

Bridal beauty tips
A setting spray will be your bridal beauty lifesaver

To keep your makeup looking fresh from day to night, apply a setting spray before walking out the door. A setting spray is great because it will immediately seal and lock makeup in place, ensuring your look will last through all the tears and sweat of your special day. A must-have for every bride, because no matter how prepared you are, the day can get hectic and the last thing you need to worry about is if your makeup is staying put. A setting spray can take care of that completely!”

Don’t try to cut corners

Don’t try to cut corners and go with the cheapest option when it comes to your wedding day hair, you very much do get what you pay for. Many brides feel comfortable going with their regular hairstylist who cuts and colours their hair in the salon because they are comfortable with that person and used to their prices. But the truth is that many of these hair pros don’t have expertise in bridal styling. Always do your research, get referrals and book well in advance to look your absolute best on your big day!”

Choose a ‘Do that fits the vibe

You, as the bride, should try to choose a style that’s cohesive with your overall feel of the wedding (i.e. dress, location, time of day and formality) For example, if you are having a beach-front wedding, don't go for a style that’s sleek and precise. Instead, go with a style that is comfortable, simple and, most of all, allows for movement. For an outdoor garden wedding, choose a soft and flowy hairstyle with pieces framing the face or neck. Adding a few flowers would be perfect. And for a ballroom wedding, you would benefit from having an elegant style — most likely an updo.

Say ‘Yes’ to second day hair

For a wedding hairstyle that looks incredible and stays put all night long, arrive to the salon with second-day hair. Hair that is a bit dirty and gritty holds and styles much better than clean, silky hair, a great stylist will know how to get rid of extra oil and add texture, but the safest bet is to arrive to the salon on your wedding day with hair that’s one-day dirty.

Think about your wedding day skincare way before the big day

The biggest skincare mistake brides make is forgetting about their complexion until just before the wedding, make sure to start caring for your skin six months before your wedding so you feel confident your skin will be glowing for the big day.
