IT'S TIME TO GET SUITED & BOOTED
From budgeting to accessorising, we’ve outlined a few things to remember when it comes to choosing your grooms suits. It's a speciality of ours here at The Kent Wedding Centre and our suit specialists know a thing or two about looking sharp!
We don't mean scrimping, more deciding whats appropriate for you and the groomsmen - it’s one of the most important things to consider. You’ll need to decide first of all, whether you’re paying for the groomsmen's attire or whether the men will pay for themselves. If it’s the latter, you’ll want to choose something that’s accessible to those with budgets.
Then you’ll also want to weigh up the costs when it comes to renting suits or buying them. Both of which we would love to help you with! :)
LET THE SUIT MATCH THE WEDDING THEME
Your wedding style and theme is one of the first things you decide on so it’s important that everything relates to it – including the groomsmen. Your venue, the colours and theme of your wedding should all be decided before you start figuring out what your grooms should wear.
For instance, what groomsmen wear for a beach wedding, barn wedding and church wedding are likely going to be three different outfits. Take this into consideration. Sounds obvious, but you'd be surprised...!
MAKE THE GROOM STAND OUT
Some people say a wedding is all about the bride, but we say the groom is right up there too - closely followed by Mum of course! It’s the grooms big day, so you want to make sure he stands out. A great way to do this is by having the groom wear a different coloured waistcoat or a variation on the tie. It depends on your theme and we don't want him standing out like a proud peacock but just give him a subtle difference that says, groom.
OFFER CHOICES TO YOUR GROOMSMEN
If you know you want the groomsmen in traditional, matching suits, the best thing is to talk to them first. Tell them the theme for your wedding and what you both have in mind for suits. Ask them what they’d feel comfortable in. For instance, tall men usually look better in tails than shorter men. Share the different options and talk through what will work best for everyone. These days men are just as fashion conscious as the girls so they'll want to make sure they look good!
CONSIDER BREAKING TRADITIONS
You might want to go traditional have the men wear smart black shoes for example. But it could also be fun to have them in something a bit different. Dress shoes can be quite uncomfortable and you don’t want that to stop the men from dancing! Brown shoes look great with a navy suit and will give your grooms a much more modern finish.
COORDINATE WITH THE BRIDESMAIDS
Not only do the groomsmen have to coordinate with your overall theme, they also have to coordinate with the bridesmaids. A great way to do this is by adding a little accessory. You could match the tie or the pocket square of the groomsmen attire to the bridesmaid’s dresses, or match the boutonnieres to the bridesmaids’ bouquets.
MAKE THE GROOM FEEL SPECIAL
It’s a special day for your groomsmen and they’re probably thrilled that they’re getting to take part in your wedding. So why not give them a gift? Personalised cufflinks, a fun pair of socks, a belt or a pocket square are great finishing touches for the groomsmen attire. Even better!
